We are getting 4 supposedly. They were gotten by calling the local Virginia rep (ours is Goodlatte) and asking politely. I think it will be an amazing experience for ValGal.Crystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15260117428119041785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1314200070986881026.post-88763330569802850642008-12-08T16:21:00.000-05:002008-12-08T16:21:00.000-05:00How did you get tickets?? I will comment later, but it is my absoulute belief that if young women are educated to know exactly what happens and what is growing inside at 8 weeks (when most realize they are pregnant for the first time), they will choose to be careful enough to not get pregnant or not to have an abortion. I honestly believe that.

I was pregnant (and MARRIED) very young. I had not exactly planned to have a child my sophomore year of college, but there I was... pregnant... and I definitely considered all the options. Definitely. I chose to have Valerie and I am glad about that every second. I never once thought otherwise, but it was very, very, very hard and I was absolutely so judged for that. Now.

In the case of rape, or incest, or mom's health, that is hard too! What do you do? How do you decide? I think there it has to be a deep decision with lots of counseling from a spititual steward. Of course, the problem is that time is of the essence in this situation! I think adoption is a fine alternative in many cases but with health... that is so hard... that HAS to be a personal decision.

The truth is that it only accounts for less than 3% of abortions. Actually- that stat is for rape, incest AND health reasons. The rest (40 million a year) are for "selfish" reasons and that right there is the thing that makes me cry. If only people understood the procedure and thought... "if I have sex and get pregnant, and have an abortion, the Dr will terminate the pregnancy by doing x and y and I take the chance of having a perforated uterus and never being able to have a child in the future" there would be less behavior that could lead to women having to make that kind of decision.

Anyway, I was going to write more later, but that is pretty much it.

As for politics in abortion. Bush was anti-abortion and the rates of it in the US while he was in office did not decrease or stabalize, they increased. People need to realize that legislation happens on the state level and that "the president" does not choose national policy. Wouldn't that be fun. I won't go there though.

Are you going to the inauguration? We supposedly have tickets, but I have not seen them in the mail yet.Crystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15260117428119041785noreply@blogger.com
